2012.

A&Z Marina built her in Turkey to its own design and launched her in January, a 36 metre custom yacht with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. The wheelhouse sits on a level of its own, which leaves more of the main deck and the flybridge to the guests.

The charter years.

Under her first name she was offered for charter in Turkey, carrying ten guests with a crew of six. The flybridge was the main attraction from the start, and it still is.

ZEPPELIN.

She has a new name now and a long refit behind her. The hull and the two Scania engines are the ones she was launched with. Much of what you see on board is newer, and a longer aft platform has added two and a half metres to her length.

From the stern platform to the flybridge

You board at the stern. The platform lowers into the water, so at anchor it is both the swim deck and the landing for the tender. In port a hydraulic gangway reaches the quay.

A few steps up, the teak cockpit opens into the saloon and dining area. There are two day heads on this deck, so nobody coming in from a swim has to go below.

The master suite is on this deck as well, forward of the saloon. The other four cabins are below: two VIPs and two twins, each with its own bathroom. That makes five cabins for ten guests and nine bathrooms in all. The crew of up to six have three cabins of their own, forward on the lower deck.

One level up is the wheelhouse, and above it all is the flybridge. The jacuzzi is here, along with the bar, the dining table and the sun pads, and a hardtop shades the forward part of the deck.

Dark hull, pale rooms

Outside.

A dark blue hull under a white superstructure. Dark glass runs in a band along the main deck, and the wheelhouse is set above it. A hardtop finishes the line of the flybridge, and the stern steps down to a broad platform at the water. The decks are teak.

Inside.

The rooms are Scandinavian in the plain sense of the word: pale surfaces, clean joinery and very little ornament. A long run of windows on each side keeps the saloon bright through the day. The floors are light oak and the cabinetry white. The bathrooms are finished in grey stone, with walk-in showers and, in the larger cabins, twin basins. None of these finishes were on board in 2012.

2012 Today

The refit took around three years. The builder's original specification survives, so what changed can be set out line by line.

Built to cruise at ten knots

She is not a fast yacht and was never meant to be. Two Scania diesels of 750 hp each drive the semi-displacement hull, and she settles at ten knots. Each engine has run 2,710 hours.

At that pace the 13,500 litres of fuel give a range of 1,100 nautical miles, about four and a half days of continuous running. She carries 8,388 litres of fresh water, and a watermaker adds 220 litres an hour.

In harbour a hydraulic bow thruster helps her on and off the berth. At anchor the generators and the inverter run the air conditioning and the rest of the ship without a shore connection, and a 500 kg crane puts the tender in the water.

See her in Marmaris

She is lying on the south-west coast of Turkey, about an hour and a half by road from Dalaman airport, and can be viewed by appointment. If you can't travel yet, we can walk you through her on a video call first.

A purchase follows the usual course: an offer, an independent survey, a sea trial, then contract and completion. We arrange the viewing, help you find a surveyor, draw up the purchase contract handle payment through our client account and advise on re-registration.
